Dance-a-thon!

Raffle Tickets are now available for our annual
Snowflake Dance-a-thon.  Each student brought home a Sponsor sheet. For each $5.00 a student raises they will get a raffle ticket that they then will choose a prize that they can have an opportunity to win.  All prizes have been donated by staff and the assortment is huge.  Our actual dance will be on Friday, March 9. As noted in the note that accompanied the Sponsor sheet, all students will dance for a few periods on the day, but do not need to bring in a Sponsor sheet as dance is part of our Physical Education Curriculum. Prizes are on display in our front foyer. Families are welcome to come by to see, otherwise students will choose on their own.
Some of our prizes include:

Winter Activities

Even though our local weather did not cooperate with us, students were still able to take part in a variety of winter activities. A group of students who chose Snow Valley had the opportunity to go skiing, snowboarding or tubing, whereas others took part in bowling, dancing, cooking, skating, crafting, trampolining, ball hockey and soccer to name a few.
Thank-you to those parents who were able to join us for these activities and thank-you to our community for working with us to support a healthy, active living during our winter months. Our next day is February 28, and even though we do not have snow locally to open up tobogganing and cross country skiing, we will be able to offer the same activities as February 21.

Invitation to Town Halls

Contribute to Strategic Planning at YRDSB - Upcoming Town Halls

York Region District School Board is revisioning its Multi-Year Plan (MYP) and Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-being. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the strategic direction of public education in York Region public schools. The MYP incorporates the direction established by the Trustees with feedback received from all stakeholders, and will inform decision making at the Board in the years to come. Town halls will be taking place across the region and feedback collected from families and community members will inform the creation of a new MYP. Your voice is important and your input and feedback will help York Region District School Board support student achievement and well-being. There will also be other opportunities, including a survey available in April, to share your thoughts if you are unable to attend a town hall.

Winter Walk Day at JLPS

Today the whole school took part in the National Winter Walk Day.  As a school we all took part in a neighbourhood walk. Students were bundled up for some winter exercise and as you can tell by the photos below, fun was had by all. As part of our continued efforts to support a healthy lifestyle and choices we are proud to take part in campaigns like this.
