Autism Awareness Events

On Tuesday, April 3rd JLPS will be showing our continued  commitment to supporting all students through various events that bring attention to Autism.The eleventh annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2018.

Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world, light blue in recognition of people living with autism. Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place all month to increase understanding and acceptance and foster worldwide support.

*On Tuesday, April 3rd students are asked to wear blue. We will have a short school-wide assembly to share some information prepared by our staff and students followed immediately by a school-wide walk through our community. Families are welcome to join us for the assembly and the walk at 12:50pm.

*Also, Our Primary Autism class will be selling cupcakes at morning and lunch recess  for $1.00 to raise funds to purchase resources for their classroom. If you would like your child to purchase one, please send them with a loonie.

Eco Team Button Making

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Eco Team Presents: Button Workshop

The Eco team will be hosting a 2-day button making workshop!

The Eco-Team will be raising money for planters and flowers for
our outdoor garden.  The cost of the button is $2.00/each.

During lunch recess, students in…

Grades 1-3 are invited to create their button on Wednesday April 4th,

Grades 4-8 are invited to create their button on Thursday April 5th

Please bring in your toonie on your day to give to the Eco Leaders
at the Button Workshop.

Dance-a-thon Excitement

Today we had an opportunity to come together with multiple classrooms to support not only our Physical Education Dance component, but also to raise funds for our ever expanding school's need for more technology and resources.......our Dance-a-thon!  Under the guidance of Dj Ez ( Mr. Hunte) and his awesome crew (grade 8 students) students danced, laughed...celebrated our JLPS spirit!
Thank-you to our community who helped us raise close to $3000.  We are so fortunate to have such a supportive community.

On behalf of the staff of JLPS we would like to wish our community a restful and enjoyable Winter Break.  We welcome you back on Monday, March 19, day 3.

Making Connections

Recently grade 12 English students from Tommy Douglas visited our grade 2 classes to share books that they wrote and illustrated for young students.  As part of their English course, they were tasked with this assignment.  The feedback our students provided helped the high school students make adjustments for further books they will be making. We are always happy to work with our neighbouring high school to make connections for future learning.

Earth Hour

JLPS Eco Update:

Students have been participating in litterless lunches
and LOL (Light’s out lunches) all year long!

This month, we will be participating in Earth Hour on Friday March 23.
We will be turning off the lights and shutting off technology for an hour!

You can also participate on Saturday March 24 for Earth Hour
Vaughan. You don't want to miss Earth Hour Vaughan's 11th
annual celebration! Join us for an evening full of fun, entertainment,

Pink T-shirt Day!

On Friday, March 2 JLPS will be honouring National Pink

 T-Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day is an anti-bullying awareness campaign that began in support of one bullied teenager in Nova Scotia. Together we will stand for all students, pledging to make JLPS a non-bullying school. Please help by having your child wear something pink.
